Young Composers Camp: Summer Edition

Manship Theatre and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will present a week long music education intensive camp where children learn to read, write and conduct their own music. Dates of the camp are June 9- 13 from8:30am-3:30pm. The camp is appropriate for grades 2-6. The cost of the camp is $220 and includes Camp T-shirt, LSU MOA visit, and admittance to a movie at Manship Theatre. The Students’ work culminates in a concert on the last day of camp in which their compositions will be performed by BRSO musicians. There will be two levels for the camp: beginner and advanced.  Students will be tested on the first day of camp and grouped according to their prior musical knowledge.  Students of all musical experiences are welcome! Nationally certified local music teachers will teach lessons involving singing, playing percussion and recorder instruments, as well as proper notation of music. The final performance will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 14th. Children are to bring a snack, drink and lunch each day.
