MOVIES & MUSIC: ‘BLACKMAIL’ & PALOMINO DARLING

October 28, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$9.00

Join BRG on Saturday, October 28 as we revisit the 1929 Alfred Hitchcock silent masterpiece, “Blackmail.” The film follows Alice White (Anny Ondra), who after a fight with her boyfriend, Officer Frank Webber (John Longden), decides to leave with an artist named Mr. Crewe. Once at the artist’s home, he attempts to force himself on Alice, and while defending herself, she kills him. After investigating the killing, Frank realizes Alice is the culprit and seeks to help her. However, matters are complicated by a blackmailing thief (played by Donald Calthrop).

Providing the score for the film is Baton Rouge’s own Palomino Darling. The duo, comprised of Katie Swetman and Sam Anselmo, describes their sound as “rock, the heartbreaking kind.” You can hear Palomino Darling’s 2015 track, “Old and Lost River,” on YouTube here.
